State to Settle Ksh4B NHIF Debt by Next Week - April 2026
The Kenyan government pledged to clear Ksh4 billion in outstanding debts owed by the defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to hospitals by next week. This initial payment will prioritize facilities with debts up to Ksh10 million. The Social Health Authority (SHA) appointed 25 Claims Management Officers to improve efficiency and accountability in healthcare claims processing as part of institutional reforms.
