A political ally of President William Ruto, Senator Samson Cherarkey, has initiated a process to review the retirement benefits of former President Uhuru Kenyatta. The Nandi Senator filed a Senate motion seeking to withdraw or reduce Uhuru's retirement benefits, citing his continued involvement in politics. This move has triggered a strong reaction from the Jubilee Party, with former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i advising the current government to cease using Uhuru as a scapegoat for its shortcomings. The motion claims Uhuru has been engaging in political activities, making him ineligible for full retirement benefits.
