Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan publicly questioned Kenyan President William Ruto about his announcement of a new oil refinery in Tanga without her prior knowledge, asking 'Why didn't you tell me about my own refinery?' This confrontation occurred during Ruto's state visit to Tanzania. Earlier, Kenya and Tanzania had signed eight agreements to deepen bilateral ties and boost regional integration, aiming to accelerate economic growth. Additionally, President Ruto gave a timeline for the revival of the 100-year old railway linking Kenya and Tanzania, announcing the Voi-Mwatate-Taveta railway line, dormant for over two decades, will be fully operational by April 2027.
