Kenyan President William Ruto faced diplomatic embarrassment during a State visit to Tanzania after President Samia Suluhu Hassan publicly distanced herself from his assertions about an oil refinery project. Ruto had addressed the Tanzania Parliament in Dodoma, highlighting a significant oil refinery project set for Tanga region. However, Suluhu contradicted his claims during the same visit, creating a diplomatic gaffe that drew criticism. Additionally, Suluhu's strong stance against Gen Z activists has placed Kenyan President Ruto under scrutiny due to his silence on the matter. Meanwhile, despite these tensions, the two presidents were also collaborating to boost trade and investment within the East African region.
