Petitioners are challenging the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in court, arguing it was a politically motivated purge by President William Ruto's administration to control Mt Kenya politics. Former Lands Minister Amos Kimunya has also been cleared after a 12-year legal battle over an alleged land grab, expressing a wish that his late wife had lived to see justice served. In a separate ruling, the High Court declined to penalize political parties for illegal recruitment of members after ruling that electronic evidence provided by petitioners was inadmissible.
