Dr. Gikonyo confirms treating ex-DP Gachagua during impeachment trial - May 2026
Karen Hospital Founder and Chief Cardiologist Dr. Daniel Gikonyo has confirmed in court that he treated former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for chest pains during his impeachment trial. The cardiologist revealed that President William Ruto personally called him to inquire about Gachagua's medical condition when he was admitted to Karen Hospital in October 2024. Dr. Gikonyo stated that Gachagua received medical treatment on the very day his impeachment hearing was scheduled. A Kenyan court ruled that employees can no longer instantly resign or retire to evade disciplinary action, clarifying that immediate resignation does not shield individuals from accountability for workplace offenses.
