The Kenyan government has officially designated the Homa Bay County Commissioner’s Residence as a State Lodge, elevating its status for official state functions.

• The residence will now serve as a State Lodge with immediate effect from the date of publication.
• Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen announced the declaration via a Gazette Notice.
• This upgrade signifies a formal enhancement of the facility's role in regional governance and official state operations within Homa Bay County.

The Homa Bay County Commissioner's residence has officially been upgraded to a State Lodge, as declared by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.

• The residence was declared a State Lodge with effect from Friday, May 15.
• The declaration designates the facility for official state functions and use by the Head of State.
• This upgrade means the County Commissioner must vacate the premises, and management is transferred to the State House Comptroller's office.

The National Land Commission (NLC) has announced plans for compulsory land acquisition in Meru County for the realignment of the Nithi River Bridge. This aims to facilitate the Makutano-Embu-Meru (A9) Road Project.

• 50 parcels of land totaling 10.51 hectares will be acquired in Meru County.
• The acquisitions are being carried out on behalf of the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).
• Similar acquisitions are also underway in Homa Bay County for road realignment and airstrip expansion, impacting institutions like Tom Mboya University College.
