Apple Pay has officially launched in Mauritius, making it the country the third African nation to offer the service after South Africa and Morocco. The launch was conducted through a partnership with Visa and local bank MCB, enabling MCB Visa cardholders to make secure, contactless payments on their Apple devices. This follows a separate announcement by Visa bringing Apple Pay to Mauritius as part of the country's digital transformation efforts. The launch offers a seamless, mobile-first payment experience to Mauritian consumers. Meanwhile, Kenya - East Africa's largest economy - still does not have Apple Pay available, despite being home to several tech hubs and innovation centers.
