Kenya on High Alert After Suspected Ebola Cases Emerge - May 2026
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale announced that Kenya has no confirmed cases of the Ebola virus following fears of an outbreak, with all suspected individuals testing negative. However, Duale put 22 counties on high-risk alert. UK scientists at Oxford University are rapidly developing an experimental Ebola vaccine, potentially ready for clinical trials in two to three months, to combat the current outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In the DRC, an angry crowd set fire to tents used as isolation wards at a hospital in eastern DRC after being prevented from taking the body of a suspected Ebola victim for burial.
