Government spends Sh4 billion on Madaraka Day in Wajir - May 2026
Kenya's government invested Sh4 billion in infrastructure development for the upcoming Madaraka Day celebrations in Wajir County. The 63rd edition will be led by President William Ruto at the new 10,000-seater Wajir Stadium. President Ruto announced the revival of the stalled 157-kilometre Modogashe-Samatar Road project with World Bank backing. This marks the first time the event will be held in the North Eastern region.
