DCI Identifies Six of Eight Students Arrested Over Utumishi School Fire That Killed 16 Girls - June 2026

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has identified six out of eight students arrested in connection with a tragic fire at Utumishi Girls' School in Gilgil that claimed the lives of 16 girls. CCTV footage revealed seven suspects in connection with the fire that killed 16 students. A student named Fortune Amaya was among those who died following the fire incident. The Kenyan government will provide psychological support and counseling to families affected by the tragic fire.
