Kenya Power is actively identifying and migrating all Electric Vehicle charging customers to its specialized e-mobility tariff to improve revenue tracking and sector planning, as e-mobility tariff revenues surge. This follows Kenya halting a planned increase in electricity tariffs, initially set for July 1, to protect consumers from rising costs amidst surging inflation and public outcry over fuel prices. The moves come as Kenya's private sector experienced a further contraction in May, reaching its lowest point since July 2024, with rising costs and weakening demand impacting business conditions.
