County budget transparency in Kenya has reached a five-year high in 2025, with an average score of 65 points, indicating improved public access to information and accountability mechanisms. However, a new report reveals that while Kenyan counties have improved budget information transparency, many still fail to provide sufficient details for public scrutiny and accountability. At the same time, Kenya's Senate and National Assembly have reached a deal allocating Sh428 billion to counties after extensive negotiations, resolving differences over the equitable share of national revenue.
