The European Union (EU) and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) have launched the second phase of the Green Mini-Grid (GMG) Programme, aiming to provide renewable electricity access to over 100,000 Kenyans in underserved areas.

• The programme has already established 80 mini-grids across 8 counties, adding 2 megawatts of clean energy capacity.
• Key partners include the Government of Kenya, the EU, and AFD, with contributions also from the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
• This initiative, operating since 2016, directly supports Kenya's goal of achieving universal electricity access by 2030.

Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) has successfully energized the new 400kV Isinya–Konza Transmission Line and the Konza Substation, ensuring a stable power supply for the burgeoning Konza Technopolis and the surrounding lower eastern region.

• The project includes a 98-kilometre double-circuit 400kV line and a 400/132/66kV substation with four transformers.
• Key organization involved: KETRACO, with a statement from its Acting Managing Director, Eng. Kipkemoi Kibias.
• This energization strengthens the national grid's reliability and capacity to support Kenya's Vision 2030 development agenda and growing electricity demand.

Motorists in Kenya will benefit from reduced fuel prices as the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has slashed the cost of diesel and petrol in its latest monthly review, effective from midnight.

• A litre of diesel has been cut by Sh10 to Sh222.86.
• The price of petrol has seen a minor reduction of Sh0.22 to Sh214.03 per litre.
• EPRA attributed the adjustments to changes in the average landed cost of imported petroleum products.
