The National Assembly's Departmental Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives is investigating the importation of thousands of tonnes of raw sugar, deemed unfit for direct human consumption, amid fears it could enter the local market. The Consumers Federation of Kenya (COFEK) has filed a separate lawsuit against the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), challenging its directive for employers to continue enhanced employee deductions under the NSSF Act, 2013. Additionally, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has clarified that school fees for skill development courses can be claimed as tax deductions, offering potential financial relief to Kenyans.
