355 Arrested During June 25 Demonstrations Marking Gen Z Protests Anniversary - June 2026
On June 25, 355 individuals were apprehended during peaceful demonstrations commemorating the anniversary of two years ago, when youths were tragically killed. Over 100 protest suspects have been arraigned at the Kajiado Law Courts following arrests made in Kitengela on Wednesday and Thursday. Mombasa County experienced a peaceful demonstration where participants began their activities with a prayer service remembering victims of protest-related violence. The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) is urging the government to ensure justice is served alongside compensation for victims of the recent Gen Z protests, while also urging the youth to continue advocating for their rights and freedoms through peaceful means.
