Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja is facing potential jail time for contempt of court following the erection of police roadblocks during recent protests. Meanwhile, multiple investigations have been launched into police conduct during the June 25 Gen Z anniversary protests in Nakuru. Five out of six human rights activists who went missing after protests on Thursday were found dumped by the roadside in Nairobi, receiving medical attention for injuries. The National Police Service has launched an investigation into allegations of police misconduct during the demonstrations, while IG Kanja ordered separate probes into the arrest of Nakuru-based activist James Mbugua and the violent assault of a person with disability during the protests.
