The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has mandated annual inspections for all motor vehicles older than four years from their manufacture date, effective July 1. This move aims to bolster road safety by ensuring only roadworthy vehicles operate on Kenyan roads. Additionally, NTSA will soon announce timelines for enforcing new safety rules for school buses, including reflectorised stop-sign arms and telematics systems. These measures come as authorities address road safety concerns, with motorists recently enduring a night of severe disruption on the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway after a truck accident near Gilgil caused a traffic standstill stretching for kilometers.
