Inspector General Douglas Kanja has ordered urgent investigations into multiple incidents of police misconduct during the June 25 Gen Z anniversary protests in Nakuru. Videos emerged showing police violently assaulting a person with disability and manhandling activist James Mbugua during demonstrations. The National Police Service launched investigations into alleged police misconduct, while Kanja himself faces potential jail time for contempt of court following the erection of police roadblocks during recent protests. Meanwhile, human rights organizations continue to demand accountability, with five out of six missing activists found injured by the roadside after protests outside Parliament in Nairobi.
