Kenyan President William Ruto, who rose to power on a populist "hustler" narrative and opposition to established political dynasties, is now reportedly seeking alliances with those same families, including the Kenyattas, Mois, and Odingas, ahead of the 2027 General Election. At the same time, Ruto's relationship with Kanu party leader Gideon Moi, once political allies, has deteriorated into open conflict, reigniting a rivalry over the political legacy of the late Daniel arap Moi. Meanwhile, disagreements among United Opposition leaders emerged during the anniversary of the Gen Z protests, highlighting rifts despite pledges to unite against President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 election.
