The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is investigating allegations of abductions, assaults, and excessive force by police during protests on June 25 in Mathare, marking the second anniversary of the Gen-Z demonstrations. Mathare MP Anthony Oluoch is demanding accountability for a concerning rise in abduction cases within his constituency, urging the government to investigate these disappearances. However, the Kenyan government has dismissed allegations linking it to the recent alleged abductions of activists, stating that such practices are not part of its security policy. Meanwhile, Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has directed agencies within his ministry to speed up the implementation of pending reforms aimed at enhancing national security and public service delivery.
