The National Land Commission (NLC) is intensifying preparations for the expansion of the 83-kilometre Nyali Bridge-Mtwapa-Kwa Kadzengo-Kilifi (A7) highway by identifying additional land parcels for compulsory acquisition.

• Additional parcels of land are being acquired for the dualling of the busy coastal road by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).
• Affected landowners face compensation inquiry hearings scheduled between August 14 and August 16 at various chiefs' offices.

Dangote Industries Limited has announced plans to build a new 700,000-barrel-per-day oil refinery in Kenya, significantly expanding its refining capacity across Africa.

• The Ksh2.5 trillion refinery will boost Dangote Group's total refining capacity to 2.1 million barrels per day.
• The announcement was made by Devakumar Edwin, Group Vice President for Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries, during a visit by a Congolese delegation.
• The project, with construction slated for 2026, aims to reduce East Africa's reliance on imported refined fuel and may be located in Mombasa or Lamu.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has strongly defended the proposed National Infrastructure Fund, aimed at directing proceeds from asset sales into long-term development, rather than recurrent expenditure.
