Gachagua blames IG Kanja, IEBC over Ol Kalou poll chaos - July 2026

Democracy for the Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua has blamed Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for the chaotic incidents that disrupted voting in Ol Kalou. Gachagua accused the Kenyan Police Service and the IEBC of mishandling the mini-election, alleging misuse of resources to instigate chaos. He declared that the current administration's time in office is over, stating that citizens will reject them in future elections. Additionally, Gachagua stated that the Ol Kalou by-election marks the death of UDA in Mt. Kenya, telling William Ruto that today marks the beginning of his retreat ending with one term.
