Interior CS Murkomen orders probe into Ol Kalou by-election violence - July 2026

Kenya's Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has ordered a thorough investigation into alleged violence during the Ol Kalou by-election. He stressed that anyone found responsible for causing disruptions would face arrest. Chaos and tension marred the parliamentary by-election held in Nyandarua County, as armed and masked individuals clashed with residents. Residents of Ol Kalou spent the night camped outside polling stations in a bid to protect their votes during the Thursday parliamentary by-election. Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo also issued a strong appeal to national leaders to refrain from exploiting the youth for political gain.
