Ol Kalou By-Election Sees DCP Candidate Secure Victory Over UDA - July 2026

The Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election resulted in a significant win for Sammy Kamau Ngotho of the Democratic Congress Party (DCP), dealing a crushing blow to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). Jubilant DCP supporters flooded the streets of Ol Kalou on Thursday night as provisional results indicated a lead for the DCP candidate. Democracy Party of Kenya (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua had accused the government of using police to unfairly influence the by-election, and later blamed Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for chaotic incidents that disrupted voting.
