Citibank Kenya has filed a High Court petition to halt investigations into a Sh261 million loan granted to Kiru Tea Factory Company Limited, seeking to protect one of its employees from being summoned, arrested, or prosecuted. In a separate legal development, the High Court has lifted a freeze on a Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) arbitration award concerning a dispute over the construction of its Kisumu brewery, ruling that indefinite suspension undermines alternative dispute resolution. Meanwhile, Imperial Bank Limited (In Liquidation) has placed Sparetech Trading Company Limited under receivership as part of its efforts to recover assets linked to the collapsed lender, with creditors being given 30 days to file their claims.
