Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has emerged as a significant political figure following a recent tour of the vote-rich Western region, sparking debate about a potential Raila Odinga successor. His tour was largely free of the disruptions seen at other opposition gatherings, raising questions about political violence affecting other opposition events. Western Kenya has become a key battleground for the 2027 presidential election, with both President William Ruto and the opposition launching early campaigns to secure the region's vote comprising 2.92 million registered voters. Sifuna was endorsed as the 2027 Luhya community presidential flag-bearer, while President William Ruto courted the Western vote with promises of significant development projects.
