Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has challenged a summons from the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), demanding that Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale be summoned first over alleged inflammatory remarks targeting the Kikuyu community. Duale has stated he will not honour any NCIC summons unless Gachagua is also summoned. Political leaders Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka have demanded Duale's dismissal over the alleged ethnically divisive remarks. Meanwhile, Gachagua is launching a strategic push to consolidate his influence in the Mt Kenya region using his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) following victory in the Ol Kalou by-election.
