Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has publicly defended Deputy President Kithure Kindiki against attacks from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Ruku also criticized Gachagua, stating that Gachagua's issues are with President William Ruto personally, not with the Mt. Kenya region. Ruku further contrasted two prominent political figures from the Mt Kenya region, labeling one as a "thief" and the other as a "humble leader," challenging a specific individual's claim to leadership in the region. Martha Karua, leader of the People's Liberation Party, has separately declared her intention to run for the presidency in 2027, vowing not to dissolve her party and rejecting any moves towards a one-party state.
