Cleophas Malala Authorizes Edwin Sifuna to Run for President - August 2026

Cleophas Malala, the Secretary General of the Amani National Congress (ANC), has officially authorized Edwin Sifuna to run for President in the 2027 elections. This authorization was granted during a rally in Kakamega where Sifuna led Linda Mwananchi leaders in rallying opposition support. CS Rachel Ruku challenged Kiama Kiama elders to denounce Deputy President Gachagua's alleged hatred toward Mt Kenya East. Meanwhile, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has intensified his criticism of DCI Director Mohamed Amin, alleging that murder suspects in the Victoria Mutiso case were controversially released. At the same time, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki called on Mt Kenya leaders to unite. In a separate development, UDA and ODM leaders arrived in Naivasha to assess the future of their respective parties, with the 2027 election expected to be a key topic of discussion.
