Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused the government of shielding suspects in the killing of Mt Elgon parliamentary hopeful Nathan Wasama, claiming authorities ignored multiple warnings about the politician's life being in danger. Gachagua has also escalated his public criticism of DCI Director Mohamed Amin, alleging a controversial release of murder suspects in connection with the killing of Dr. Victoria Mutiso. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had announced that three suspects were detained for 30 days as they pursue more suspects and evidence in the Mutiso case. Gachagua has renewed his feud with Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, claiming police officers suspected in the murder of Dr. Victoria Mutiso were released, deepening the political conflict with the Ruto administration.
