Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, leading the Linda Mwananchi movement, has vowed to dismantle sugar cartels and reverse policies he blames for the collapse of the sugar industry in Western Kenya, making these pronouncements during a three-day tour of Kakamega County targeting voters ahead of the 2027 General Election. Sifuna has also promised to revert the Mumias Sugar Company back to public ownership if elected President in 2027. Meanwhile, Kalonzo Musyoka, the Wiper Party leader, has expressed openness to deputizing Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna in a bid to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 presidential election.
