Grassroots leaders and community health promoters from Mt Kenya East have gathered at Kinoru Stadium in Meru in anticipation of an event scheduled to be attended by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki. However, a faction of Embu elders under the Nyagi Ndiriri Cultural Group has publicly rejected resolutions from a recent meeting at Nembure Stadium that had endorsed Kindiki as the political leader for Mt Kenya East. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kindiki has stated he is unwilling to resign despite facing political pressure, emphasizing his commitment to his role and the mandates entrusted to him.
