Kenya's Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho has formed a high-level committee to resolve compliance issues with Tata Chemicals Magadi Limited, following the suspension of the company's operations. The Kenyan government and Tata Chemicals Magadi Limited agreed to form a joint technical committee to resolve compliance issues that led to the suspension. Kenya's government has adopted a less confrontational approach towards Tata Chemicals, establishing a joint committee to review compliance issues after previously threatening to expel the company. The U.S. Government has expressed strong support for President William Ruto's initiative requiring foreign companies to process minerals locally in Kenya, signaling a shift away from raw material exports towards domestic industrialization.
