Kenya's Competition Authority has approved Diageo's sale of its 65 per cent stake in East African Breweries Plc (EABL) to Japan's Asahi Holdings. Simultaneously, the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) has identified that alcoholic brands from East African Breweries (EABL), Zheng Hong Kenya Limited, and Kenya Wines Limited (Kwal) are the most targeted by counterfeiters in Kenya. Further legal developments show the High Court has quashed criminal proceedings against businessman Mr. Madatali Madatali Manji in a loan fraud case involving Sh4.5 billion, concluding related criminal prosecution.
