Two Feared Dead as Vehicles Torched in Embu During DP Kindiki's UDA Meeting - September 2026

At least one person died and six vehicles were burned when violence erupted during Deputy President Kithure Kindiki's UDA meeting in Embu. The incident occurred as political tensions escalated, with Kindiki himself publicly criticizing Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku for allegedly attempting to politically divide the Mount Kenya region. This violence follows a series of confrontations between political groups, with opposition leaders also trading accusations. Earlier, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Linda Mwananchi group were exchanging accusations over a planned Nairobi rally and voter registration claims, while Nairobi police arrested 18 individuals for alleged xenophobic incitement related to the political tensions.
