President William Ruto has commenced a five-day tour of the Nyanza region, pledging a development package of Sh600 to Sh700 billion aimed at securing political support ahead of the 2027 General Election. The tour signals an effort to bolster support in an area traditionally considered a stronghold of opposition leader Raila Odinga. During the visit, Ruto used the opportunity to criticize the opposition's politics and strengthen ties between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). Exactly four years since assuming office, Ruto stated his administration has fulfilled the majority of its promises, countering claims of economic mismanagement and corruption. He is defending his scorecard in Kisumu amid these political engagements.
