How to Reset Your iTax Password

Reset your iTax password if you cannot log into the official KRA iTax portal before filing your tax return.

What You Need

• KRA PIN.
• Registered email address.
• Registered mobile number, if SMS verification is required.
• Access to the email or phone used for verification.

Reset Steps

1. Open the KRA iTax portal.
2. Select Forgot Password/Unlock Account on the login page.
3. Enter your KRA PIN.
4. Complete the security verification shown by iTax.
5. Follow the email or SMS verification instructions.
6. Create a new password and save it securely.
7. Log in again to confirm the password works.

Password Tips

• Use a unique password you do not use on other sites.
• Avoid names, birthdays, ID numbers, or simple words.
• Store the password in a safe password manager or another secure place.
• Never share your iTax password with anyone who is not authorised to help you.

If the Reset Does Not Work

• Check your spam or junk mail folder.
• Confirm that your registered email and phone number are still active.
• Try again later if the portal is slow.
• Contact KRA support or visit a KRA office if your account remains locked.
