Renowned Kenyan preacher Bishop Gilbert Deya has tragically died in a road accident on the Kisumu–Bondo highway.

• Accident involved three vehicles: a Toyota Noah, a Moi University bus, and a Siaya County government vehicle.
• Bishop Deya lost control of his vehicle, resulting in his death at the scene; his wife and another passenger incurred minor injuries.
• Out of 13 students on the university bus, some suffered serious injuries with three requiring specialized treatment at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
