Nelson Otieno and Samuel Obiero, two Kenyan referees, have qualified to officiate at the upcoming Olympics and World Boxing Championships following their assessment by the International Boxing Association (IBA).
- They achieved the status of IBA-Star 3-Qualified-Referees and Judges after an evaluation in Conakry, Guinea, last month.
- The referees are affiliated with the Kenya Defence Forces and Nairobi City County.
- Their first appointments will be for the 2026 Olympic qualifiers and the 2023 World Elite Men Boxing Championships, taking place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, from February 6 to February 22, 2026.
