Nelson Otieno and Samuel Obiero, two Kenyan referees, have qualified to officiate at the upcoming Olympics and World Boxing Championships following their assessment by the International Boxing Association (IBA).

Nelson Otieno and Samuel Obiero, two Kenyan referees, have qualified to officiate at the upcoming Olympics and World Boxing Championships following their assessment by the International Boxing Association (IBA).

They achieved the status of IBA-Star 3-Qualified-Referees and Judges after an evaluation in Conakry, Guinea, last month.
The referees are affiliated with the Kenya Defence Forces and Nairobi City County.
Their first appointments will be for the 2026 Olympic qualifiers and the 2023 World Elite Men Boxing Championships, taking place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, from February 6 to February 22, 2026.
