The High Court has allowed the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) to join a petition from Thika Chief Magistrate Stella Atambo contesting search warrants issued by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) regarding a corruption investigation.

Ksh 2.07 million in cash was allegedly recovered by the EACC during a search at Atambo’s residence.
The petition, filed on 17th March 2025, claims the search warrant was defective and undermined judicial independence.
The EACC plans to transfer the case to the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division, with a hearing scheduled for 7th October 2025.
