The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has intercepted **24,000** substandard portable socket outlets valued at **Ksh2.5 million**, imported from China.

• The consignment was discovered in a **40-foot** container delivered by Hilalium & Sons (Ur Home) Limited**.
• Esther Ngari, Managing Director of KEBS, noted discrepancies between the shipment's documentation and the actual products.
• The extension sockets lack essential earthing and are deemed unsafe, leading to the consignment being handed over to the Kenya Revenue Authority for reshipment or destruction.
