Ex-nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has been ordered to pay Ksh10.5 million in damages for defaming Senate Clerk Jeremiah Nyegenye. The ruling was made on December 22, 2023 by Magistrate Ruguru Ngotho.

• Orwoba was found guilty of sharing malicious posts accusing Nyegenye of sexual harassment.
• She was required to pay Ksh 8 million in general damages and Ksh 2.5 million in exemplary damages.
• Orwoba must also issue a public apology within 30 days, or face an additional Ksh 1 million in penalties.
