Tension escalated at the Rumuruti Police Station as elders protested for the return of their stolen cows following a failed search by over 200 young men.

• Seven cows were stolen on 8th July from the community near ADC Mutara.
• Local elders accused a police officer of collusion with the suspects after they were released on 16th July 2025.
• The elders have requested intervention from Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and called for the enforcement of the traditional 1:3 rule for cattle theft.
