Controversy has erupted over the opening of a new luxury hotel, the Ritz-Carlton Sand River Safari Camp, in Masai Mara, Kenya, with the Maasai Education, Research, and Conservation Institute (MERCIE) opposing its construction.

• The hotel is being built on a wildlife migration corridor, a site globally recognized as vital for its ecological importance.

• Dr. Meitamei Ole Dapash, director of MERCIE, has demanded full disclosure of land agreements and permits from Marriott International.

• Marriott International has been given 14 days from Thursday, July 24th, to respond with documentation, facing potential legal proceedings and international exposure if they fail to comply.
