Former ICT Cabinet Secretary Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u has been appointed as the Senior Researcher & Digital Policy Specialist to the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Safeguards Strategic Advisory Board at the United Nations. This new role comes after she declined an earlier appointment as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana by President William Ruto due to personal reasons.

• Her new role was announced by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Thursday, July 31.
• Ndung’u will provide strategic advice on the adoption, implementation, and long-term evolution of the Universal DPI Safeguards Framework.
• She aims to play a central role in large-scale dissemination efforts and raising awareness of the Framework’s significance.
