Francis Auma, an activist with Muslims for Human Rights (MUHURI), was allegedly assaulted by police officers, including an OCPD, in Mombasa on Saturday, August 2.

• Fellow activist Hussein Khalid, CEO of Vocal Africa, confirmed the incident, stating Auma sustained serious injuries, including bleeding from his ears.
• The attack on Auma occurred hours after MUHURI and other civil society organizations attempted to have activist Mwabili Mwagodi record a statement at Central Police Station regarding his abduction in Tanzania, but the OCS refused to take the statement.
• Mwabili Mwagodi was abducted in Tanzania on Wednesday, July 21, held for four days, and dumped in a bush in Kinondo, Kwale County, on Sunday, July 27, claiming Kenyan police were involved in his exchange.
