The National Land Commission (NLC) is acquiring over 105 parcels of land from private landowners across various counties in Kenya to facilitate critical road infrastructure projects. This move, announced via a gazette notice dated August 1, is being conducted on behalf of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA).
- The NLC, chaired by Gershom Otachi, is acquiring land for significant projects including the River Sio bridge in Busia County, the Mervy-Njeri Junction (B5)-Mangu (Junction D317)-Rongai (Junction D318) road in Nakuru County, and the Baricho Bridge in Kilifi County.
- Affected landowners in Nakuru County will attend claim hearings at the Rongai chief's office on August 27 and 28, while those in Kilifi County visit the Baricho Assistant Chiefs' office on September 10.
- The commission will acquire 46 parcels in Tharaka Nithi County for the St. Mary's–Kinooro and other road projects, with hearings scheduled for August 20 and 21 at the Chogoria Chief's office.
