The Port of Mombasa has successfully retained Uganda as its primary transit market, despite growing competition from the Port of Dar es Salaam. This stronghold is attributed to effective strategies implemented by the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

• In the past year, Ugandan cargo comprised 65.7% of Mombasa's transit market, with 8.81 million tonnes processed.
• Suleiman Roba, Kenya’s Deputy Head of Mission at the High Commission in Uganda, affirmed Uganda's continued significance as the largest transit market.
• The KPA board is overseeing infrastructural developments, including upgrading the terminal operating system and expanding Berth 19B, to boost port performance.
